Who's behind SWOT Revision?
SWOT Revision was originally called 'Success to A*', a Young Enterprise company formed by five former Year 11 students. After leaving Culcheth High School the five members went on to study at Winstanley College one of the top Colleges in the North West.
We started work on the Success to A* after deciding to take part in the Young Enterprise business challenge. This is a national competition that encourages young people to create their own business.
When we first started discussing different ideas one thing that was still on our minds was the GCSE exams. Despite passing these exams successfully, we all agreed that many of the revision resources we had used such as other revision guides and revision websites lacked accessibility. We started discussing whether there was anyway we could create a product that could help other students tackle this problem.
After debating several different ideas we decided to create the Success to A* English Language Revision Guide. The business was very successful winning the Wigan Regional Finals and progressing onto the Greater Manchester Finals.
The business went onto create further products and two of the original five members have since decided to continue the business as a partnership, under the name SWOT Revision, which stands for 'Success Without Teaching', our motto and philosophy behind the website.
